Garfield ± You
A downloadable game
For over thirty years, starting in the 1980s, telephones in the shape of the orange cartoon cat Garfield were found washed up on the shores of a beach in northwestern France. Nobody knew where the phones were coming from. It was a big mess, but also a little nostalgic and theoretically could be used to contact somebody far away.
This is a two player RPG about a person experiencing major milestones in their life, at which time they also are visited by Garfield. One player plays the Human, and the other plays Garfield. Garfield is also a phone.
You can listen to G±Y being played on the Pod of Wonder podcast! Part 1, and part 2
Made for The 2020 Folklore Jam, operating under a very loose definition of folklore. Garfield is copyright Paws, Inc and is in no way my creation nor a being who exists to lure humans astray for the sake of a fell master, please do not sue me.

I just wanted to say how much I adore this game! Myself and a friend actually decided to use a hack of it to explore a couple specific characters (where it was [Another cartoon cat] ± [A specific character]) from an actual play. We did a couple with Bubsy the Bobcat as the Garfield stand-in, and one with Big the Cat. Kept the same vibes with life events, behavior tables, and the cat also being an object of some kind (a copy of Bubsy in Clawed Encounters of the Furred Kind and a SEGA Dreamcast, respectively).
All in all, we had a really great time with this - the game presents such an interestingly introspective feeling, and if you take getting in-character as Garfield (or whatever cartoon cat) seriously, it creates this poignant contrast between the absurdity of the premise and the heartfelt emotion of the scenes that get created.
Which all sounds like a joke, but it seriously works so well as a driver for character-based improv. Highly recommend playing this at least once, and can confirm that it definitely works as a character exploration tool!
looks very amazing

Looking at Garfield's chart...
Shouldn't eating something should be much higher statistically than snake eyes? Maybe swap 5 and 2?
This is a fun idea though, thank you for making it!

You're welcome?
This is great
I thought this was a shitpost at first, but then I read it and felt kinda sad and melancholic - like a sullen exploration of growing older and duller told through HUMAN & GARFIELD
Worth a read
Worth a play
Do not sleep on this I fucking love this so much
